Powering the Controller via Barrel Jack

Overview

The Hypnotik FX controller has a barrel jack power input on its enclosure. This is the quickest way to connect the included Hypnotik power supply. No tools are required — the DC cable from the power supply plugs directly into the barrel jack.

What You Need

• Hypnotik FX controller (DIG-ALED or X-Pro)
• Hypnotik FX Power Supply (HYP-FX-PS-24V-6A) with the included DC barrel connector cable

Connection Steps

Step 1 — Inspect the barrel jack on the controller

Locate the round barrel jack port on the body of the controller.

• The barrel jack is a 5.5 mm outer / 2.1 mm inner DC barrel connector (standard size).
• The center pin is positive (+24 V); the outer sleeve is negative (GND).

Step 2 — Verify the power supply is unplugged from the wall

Before making any connections, confirm the power supply is not connected to AC power.

Step 3 — Connect the barrel jack

Insert the DC barrel connector from the power supply cable into the barrel jack port on the controller.

• Push in firmly until the connector seats fully — you will feel a slight resistance as it seats.
• There is no latch or click; friction holds the connector in place.

Step 4 — Route and secure the cable

Route the cable away from heat sources and sharp edges.

• Use cable clips or ties to secure the cable and prevent accidental disconnection.
• Avoid sharp bends near the connector.

Step 5 — Connect AC power

Plug the power supply into a wall outlet.

• The LED indicator on the controller will light up (if configured to turn on at boot).
• The controller is now powered and will begin its startup sequence.

Using a power supply with the wrong polarity will damage the controller. Always use the included Hypnotik power supply or a verified centre-positive 24 V supply.
